What The F**K is Social Media?

Social media is media designed to be disseminated through social interaction, created using highly accessible and scalable publishing techniques. Social media supports the human need for social interaction with technology, transforming broadcast media monologues (one to many) into social media dialogues (many to many). It supports the democratization of knowledge and information, transforming people from content consumers into content producers. Businesses also refer to social media as user-generated content (UGC) or consumer-generated media (CGM).

So, what the f**k is social media? Interesting, enjoyable and informative interpretation of “social media” from Marta Kagan.

Computer Science Unplugged

Computer Science Unplugged is a series of learning activities that reveals a little-known secret: computer science isn’t really about computers at all!

binary_numbers

Unplugged teaches principles of computer science such as binary numbers, algorithms and data compression through games and puzzles that use cards, string, crayons and lots of running around.

Unplugged is suitable for people of all ages, from elementary school to university, and from many countries and backgrounds. Unplugged has been used around the world for over fifteen years, in classrooms, science centers, homes, and even for holiday events in a park!

The activities are primarily aimed at the five to twelve year-old age group, but they are by no means restricted to this age range: we’ve used them to teach older children and adults too, with little modification.

You can download “Teachers’ Edition” book for free from here and each activity is available to download in PDF format (see “Activities” section from the web site).
